Almost Everything I Wish I'd Said...

meaning what i say.

these are the words i use way too often: wonderful. amazing. awesome. perfect. incredible. “i love _______.”

now i find that i’ve used those words too much to describe things that don’t actually strike me with wonder or awe. things that fill me astonishment. things that are so good that they are impossible to believe. perfect.

i find that most of the things i say that i love, i really only like. “i love chick-fil-a sauce. i love bubble wrap.” lies. i like chick-fil-a sauce and bubble wrap. i love God. i love my family. i love my friends.

i want to mean what i say. i want to tell someone that i think they’re wonderful and know that i didn’t use it to describe the taste of my breakfast or a song i heard the night before. because they’d be so much more than that. they’d deserve so much more than that.

words are powerful. i hope i stop throwing them around so carelessly.
